Frequently Asked Questions

Drivers Ed Dba Review

How do I get my Learner Permit?

Click HERE for a video explaining the process. You will still need to take the road rules and road signs test and pay the Learner Permit fee at the DMV (or online, there is a 30 dollar convenience fee if you choose to take the test online with DriverEd.com) since this FLVS Driver Education course does not excuse students from the Florida Learner Permittest. You will also need to study the Florida Driver Handbook, which is available online before taking the Florida Learner Permit test, because although this class covers most of the national driving rules, it does not cover all of the Florida specific laws in the Florida Driver Handbook. Links, study suggestions, and more information on the learner permit process will be provided to you and your parent when your teacher e-mails you your final grade and drug and alcohol course receipt at the end of the class. Click HERE to review the FL Driver Handbook.

Do I need to take the 4 hour Drug & Alcohol class when I finish my FLVS course?

When you finish this class you will receive a receipt for successfully completing the Drug and Alcohol Test. This receipt will be e-mailed to the your account and your parent’s account in the flvs e-mail spot on the student dashboard on flvs.net within approximately 5 days of course completion provided that you gave your instructorthe last 4 digits of your social security number. You will need to print this receipt and take it with you when you visit the DMV to fulfill the remainder of your Learner Permit requirements.

How much work do I need to do each week?

Click HERE for a video explaining the pace. You need to turn in 3 or 4 assignments for class each week. Weekly work is a requirement. Check the Pace Chart in the class or in the chart above to see what assignments to do each week.

Where can I find my lessons and quizzes?

Your lessons and quizzes are in the Driver Education Platform. CLICK HERE to watch a video showing how to locate your lessons and quizzes. Or, look at your left hand class tool bar and click on the first blue tab that reads Lessons. Then look in that tool bar between the blue Lessons tab and blue course information tab. You will see a tiny link that reads Driver’s Ed Platform and is underlined in blue. Click on that link. You are now in the Driver’s Ed Platform. Click on the Green Start Course button to begin reading your lessons. The quiz will automatically appear at the end of each module’s lessons.

Can I retake a quiz?

You can take each quiz in the Driver Ed Platform 2 times. If you earn a score that is less than perfect, the course will automatically offer you the opportunity to take the quiz a second time before moving on to the next module. If you choose to take the quiz a second time you must do so before moving to the next module, if you skip your second chance you can never go back and try the quiz again. The most recent grade, not the highest grade, will be recorded in your class Gradebook so it is important to review before attempting a quiz a second time. Teachers do not have the ability to reset quizzes in the Driver’s Ed Platform.

I just took my quiz and I don’t see the grade in my class Gradebook. What happened?

The quiz grades take anywhere from 2 to 24 hours to move from the Platform to your class Gradebook. The two programs have to 'talk' before the grade moves over and they only sync up a few times a day.

If the grade is still not showing after 24 hours let your instructor know about the problem.

Howcan I go back and see the module lessons and quizzes that I completed in the Driver’s Ed Platform?

Click on the lessons tab and click on the Driver’s Ed platform. You will see the green button that you use to work on your modules. Do not click on the button. Scroll down and you will see the work you have completed. Click on a topic to review your work again.

The videos in my lessons will not load what can I do?

There are 2 things to try when you are having video loading issues in the Driver Ed Platform--it is not loading either because your internet is not fast enough to handle the video OR your computer is not fast enough to handle the video.

1. Switch the speed of the class to HTML (this is the slower speed, right now it is set to FLASH) to switch the speed go into the Driver Ed Platform. Look below the green continue course button. You will see the tiny logos that read FLASH/HTML. Right now the word flash is in bold font. Click on the word HTML to switch the course speed to the slower HTML version. Click the green continue course button. Now your classwork will appear as a long document instead of as a slide show. The videos are embedded and if you cannot get them to load you can still read the rest of the information.

2. If changing the settings does not work you will need to call the FLVS help desk at 1-866-322-8324, select Option #2 when the recorded message picks up. The help desk experts are there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you with any technical issues with your classes. The experts at the help desk can fix many issues that your instructor does not know how to fix.

Let your instructor know if you continue to experience technical difficulties.

The Discussion Based Assessment 8 is a quick conversation with your teacher over the phone.
